In Collaboration with IPSF
Created by a small group of passionate kids, Irvine Talks is a night of performance and creativity with a purpose. In an increasingly divisive and violent world, Irvine Talks was created to evoke an awareness of the human condition. Through the medium of student created stories, art, music, poetry, and immersive performances, we'll be celebrating and exploring what it means to be human. Join us for Irvine Talks: Chapter Two next year.
Irvine Talks has always been created and curated by high school students, and it's time we found next year's board. While hundreds of students contribute to Irvine Talks, as production team members or contributing artists, only a handful of students make up the board. Among individual responsibilities, they collaborate to come up with next year's theme and vision. Currently, we're looking for 4 driven, passionate, students. The spots available are as follows:
The event chair is responsible for coordinating every aspect of the outdoor event. They will be working closely with the vice-president, who shares similar responsibilities. Some of those responsibilities include:
Organizing food trucks and entertainment for the outside event
Coordinating and collecting artwork from every high school
Working with student bands/organizing equipment
Developing a coherent theme and vision for the outside event
The performance chair, among other responsibilities, is in charge of coordinating and running auditions. Just as the event coordinator will work closely with the vice-president, the performance chair will share responsibilities with the president. That means they'll be assisting the president in directing the show, meeting with performers, choosing performance pieces, etc. They will also be responsible for organizing dress rehearsals and meetings with the speakers.
Publicity plays a key role in making Irvine Talks the community festival that it is, which is why we're looking for two talented publicity coordinators. The publicity coordinators will collaborate with each other and are responsible with designing the Irvine Talks Merch, namely shirts and pins. They will also be designing the graphics and programs, and are responsible for planning effective publicity with all 5 high schools in Irvine. They'll be communicating with other school's film programs and ASBs. Finally, publicity coordinators will maintain the Irvine Talks social media pages, and maintain/update this website.
To apply, please fill out the google form here! We'll be coordinating interviews based on the number of applicants.
Thank you for joining us at Irvine Talks: Chapter One! We had over 500 members of our community present, and it was an honor to share these stories with you. Seeing this event come to life was a humbling and electrifying experience. We got the chance to bring five high schools together, to celebrate student voices, to connect. We'd like to thank everyone who helped bring Irvine Talks to life, especially Cheryl and Connie from the Irvine Public Schools Foundation. This wouldn't have been possible without your support. We'd also like to thank the performers. Your stories made this event what it was, and we'll always be amazed by your strength and your honesty. Irvine Talks belongs to the community now, and we're incredibly grateful that we can leave this to you.
See you at Irvine Talks: Chapter 2.
